Science Readers: Looking Up!
Looking Up! is an informational text that describes what we can observe in the night sky with our eyes and with a telescope. An experiment invites students to observe how the moon moves across the sky in one-hour intervals. Questions posed directly to the reader prompt personal connections.
The book is divided into sections. Sentences vary in length and structure. Captioned photos and fact boxes support and enhance the text. Punctuation includes periods, commas, and question marks. A table of contents, glossary and index support the reader.
A pronuncation guide is provided for some words, such as descriptive (dih-SKRIP-tiv). Glossary words are bolded throughout the text.
