Science Readers: Science Detectives

Science Detectives is an informational text that explains the work, the tools, and the methods scientists use.  A two-page experiment invites students to explore what they can learn about water. 

The book is divided into sections with some subsections.  Sentences vary in length and structure.  Illustrations and labeled photographs support the text. Punctuation includes periods, commas, questions marks, and exclamation marks. Fact boxes provide additional information. A table of contents, a glossary, and an index support the reader.

Potentially unfamiliar words, such as chemicals, are given phonetically (KEM-i-kuhlz). Glossary words are bold faced throughout the text.
