Science Readers: Cells
Cells is an expository text that takes readers inside a cell and explains unicellular and multicellular organisms, cell theory, passive and active transport, and little cells that are big deal. An activity invites students to explore how diffusion works.
The book is divided into sections with some subsections. Sentences vary in length and structure. Labeled photographs and diagrams support and extend the text. Fact boxes add interest. Italics are used to introduce new words and dashes are used to expand on an idea. A table of contents, glossary and index are provided.
Glossary words are bold faced throughout the text.
