Turtle Island Voices: The Mystery at Lake Laberge

The Mystery at Lake Laberge is a suspenseful, realistic story set in the Yukon.  Three friends, Payuk, Kimi, and Biyen follow old Aaya deep into the woods to discover where he gets the gifts he brings to the village, but before they learn the truth, their fear of the Nuhu’anh nearly overwhelms them. The book concludes with Turtle Island Circle, a feature that prompts reflection and extension.

The book has a Contents and is divided into chapters.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Illustrations support the text, although not all events are shown. 

The vocabulary reflects the everyday speech of children.
