Turtle Island Voices 2: The Sash

The Sash is a realistic story about Matt, a Métis boy, who shows wisdom by respecting the cultural heritage in his red sash and about Jen, who shows wisdom, too, when she listens.  The book concludes with Teachings from Turtle Island and Turtle Island Circle, features that provide additional information and prompt reflection and extension.

Most sentences are short and simple.  Illustrations support the text directly.  Quotation marks are used in dialogue. Italic and dashes is used for emphasis. 

The vocabulary reflects the everyday speech of children.
