Turtle Island Voices: The Big Dark

The Big Dark is a retelling of a traditional Dene Tha’ creation story.  When darkness comes to the peaceful Earth of long ago, the animals find a way to save themselves, but Earth is forever changed.  The book concludes with Reflecting on the Story and Turtle Island Circle, features that provide additional information and prompt reflection and extension.

The book has a Contents and is divided into chapters.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Illustrations support the text although not all scenes are illustrated. 

The vocabulary reflects the everyday speech of children.
