Turtle Island Voices 1: Coyote's Trick

Coyote’s Tricks is a humorous story about how trickster Coyote is tricked by his friends Owl, Bear, and Squirrel and about how forgiveness brings the friends together.  The book concludes with Teachings from Turtle Island and Turtle Island Circle, features that provide additional information and prompt reflection and extension.

All the sentences are short and simple.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly.  Quotation marks are used in dialogue.  Uppercase letters are used to create the characters’ names.

The vocabulary reflects the everyday speech of children.
