Where Did the Dinosaurs Go? is a fictional story about two dinosaurs learning about planets. They tried to figure out why the dinosaurs disappeared from planet Earth. They thought about what dinosaurs need, humans, the volcano that blew up, and the meteorite. In the end, the dinosaurs are glad nothing like this happened to their planet! The story is narrated with dialogue, illustrations, and symbols. 

Where Did the Dinosaurs Go? is a simple narrative story. Illustrations match the text. Draw students’ attention to the visual features including the symbols, layout and design of the story. 

Readers develop vocabulary such as compound words (sunlight), verbs (picked), and adjectives (icky). Opportunities arise to discuss apostrophes within contractions (hadn’t), capital letters at the beginning of sentences and names (Earth), quotation marks, question marks, exclamation marks, and commas.
