Taanishi: Bang! Beigne!

Bang! Beigne! is a jaunty chant that plays with the pronunciation of the Métis word beigne, one of the three different kinds of bannock.  The inside front cover offers cultural background information and the inside back cover provides instructional suggestions.

Each page follows the sentence pattern “I bang on ________.   Bang!  Bang!”  The book concludes with the punchline “I eat beignes!  Yum, yum!  Bang! Beigne!”  Photographs support the text directly. 

The vocabulary reflects the speech of young children.
