Mrs.O'Malley in Alligator Alley

Mrs. O’Malley in Alligator Alley is a humorous story.  Mrs. O’Malley likes to dilly-dally in Alligator Alley, but the townspeople tell her alligators are dangerous.  Mrs. O’Malley devises a clever way to keep the alligators at bay, then the townspeople discover Mrs. O’Malley is dangerous!  Several repeating language patterns tell the story in dialogue and simple narrative.

The story has a beginning, middle end text structure.  All the sentences follow a similar pattern and are largely predictable.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, ellipses, and commas are used. Bold face is used for emphasis.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.

The contractions can’t and won’t are used.  The compound words everywhere and somewhere are used.  Interest words include humongous, dilly-dally, ferocious, fierce, and jaws.
