Alley Cats
Alley Cats is a humorous story about four cats in search of food. Everywhere they go the cats cause a commotion and a hullabaloo until at last they find food in a most unusual way. Several repeating language patterns tell the story in dialogue and narrative.
The story is told as a sequence of events. A variety of sentence types are used. Quotation marks, exclamation marks, question marks, ellipses, apostrophes, and commas are used. Bold face is used for emphasis. Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.
The contractions can’t and wouldn’t are used. Singular/plural pairs include shop/shops and bridge/bridges. The homonyms their/there appear. Interest words include darting, shadowy, rhythm, scritch, and floury.
