Living in Trees

Living in Trees is an informational text that shows what animals live in trees.  The text has the repeating language pattern “This ________ lives in a tree.”

All the sentences are short and predictable.  Vibrant photographs match the text directly.  Each two-page spread shows a cameo photograph of an animal and then shows that animal in its tree home on the facing page.  A label with the word “tree” also appears.  The final two-page spread has cameo photographs of all the animals and an index.

The high frequency words are this, in, and the.  Interest words include snake, lizard, monkey, and lives.  The initial consonant l appears in lizard and lives.
