Double Lives

Double Lives is an informational explanation of how a variety of animals are adapted to live in water and on land.  The adaptations, behaviours, and life cycles of crocodiles, frogs, hippos, mosquitoes, platypuses, sea turtles are described, as are the inventions people use to enable them to enjoy double lives.  The style is informative and conversational. 

The book has a contents and is divided into eight sections.  Section headings are used.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Captioned and labelled photographs and labelled diagrams support the text and add meaning.  An index is provided.  The book concludes with a two-page spread that tells how to write informational explanations.
