Fiction Readers: Seb's Train

Seb’s Train is a realistic fiction story about a little boy building with his train tracks. He builds a really long train track, but it breaks and becomes short again! The story is narrated with illustrations.

Seb’s Train is a simple narrative story. Illustrations match the text. Draw students’ attention to the visual features including the layout and design of the story. Opportunities arise to discuss short and long in relation to the illustrations. 

Readers develop vocabulary such as verbs (build) and antonyms (short/long). Opportunities arise to discuss apostrophes to show possession (Seb’s), capital letters at the beginning of sentences and names (Seb), exclamation marks, and commas.
