Water Movers

Water Movers is an informational explanation.  The text explains how animals move in seas and oceans and how they move in ponds and rivers.  The style is informative and conversational.

The book has a table of contents and is divided into three sections, an introduction and two sections supporting the main idea. The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Captioned and labelled photographs support the text and add meaning.  An Info Box adds interest.  A summary chart and index are provided.   The book concludes with a two-page spread that provides the characteristics of an explanation, including a topic, headings, supporting information, and visuals. 

Some words, such as chambers, siphon, sac, crest, disc, paddles, currents, and spines may require clarification.  The adjectives different, little, sticky, and tiny are used.  The pronouns you, they, their, it them, and its are used.
