Unsolved! Mysterious Places is an expository text that describes a variety of interesting places, including strange monuments, lost cities, and treasure troves.  The style is conversational and informative.

A variety of sentence types is used.  Information is presented by the main text, captioned photographs, illustrations, diagrams, lists, timelines, maps, and text boxes that highlight definitions and interesting facts.  A Contents, glossary, index, bibliography, and websites for further research are provided. 

New terminology such as chieftains, hieroglyphics, and prehistoric is defined in context.
