Circus Mystery

Circus Mystery is a narrative about a clever boy named Orvil who wants to be a trapeze artist like his parents.  But when the circus safe is broken into, Orvil feels his dream disappearing.  No circus, no trapeze for Orvil.  The boy is on the case!  The story is told in dialogue and narrative.

The story has a problem solution structure.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Illustrations support the text but not all events are illustrated.  Speech and thought balloons appear in the art.  Boldface and italic are used for emphasis.  The book concludes with a two-page spread that tells how to write a narrative.

Some words may require clarification: bustling, trapeze, spindly, takings, stash, staggered, massive, despair, forced entry, apprehended.  Simile: like a big, black spider.  Saying: feather his nest.
