Sarah and the Bully is a realistic story about Sarah, a Nlaka’pamux (Thompson River Salish) girl, and how she faces the challenge of a bully at her new school.  When Sarah’s family moves to the city from Boothroyd First Nation, Sarah decides to ignore the bully, but when a new girl faces the same harassment, Sarah realizes she has to stand up for her new friend.  The story is told in narrative and dialogue.

The book is divided into chapters and has a Contents.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence typesBoldface, italic, and enlarged type are used for emphasis.  Illustrations support the text but not all scenes are illustrated.  The book concludes with a prompt for reflecting on the story and information about Sarah’s First Nations home.  Turtle Island Circle provides extension activities.
