The Rally Car
The Rally Car is a fiction story about two monsters building a rally car. One monster keeps playing tricks on the other monster while building! Readers gain information from the text, illustrations, trail map, and speech bubble.
The Rally Car uses the sentence stem “We put on the…” Illustrations match the text. The story includes triggering in questions. There are critical thinking questions to guide the reader. A teacher guide for reading the text and visual information is provided for teachers to draw students’ attention to illustrations, starting points, trail map, and speech bubbles. There is a high frequency word list within an illustration at the end of the story. An activity on drawing a picture with a caption of themselves and a friend making a rally car is provided for teachers to extend students’ learning.
