The Giant's Ice Cream

The Giant’s Ice Cream is a humorous fantasy about a giant who grows so big on a diet of all ice cream that he gets stuck in the door and about the little cat who rescues him.  The text is composed of a couple repeated language patterns, including the giant’s chant about how ice cream makes him strong.  The little cat has the last word!

The story has a beginning, middle, end text structure.  All the sentences are short and largely predictable.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, commas and ellipses are used.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning. 

The contractions you’re and I’m are used.  The compound word doorway is used.  Interest words include stuck, yummy, tough, and stuff.
