Taanishi: Time to Dance

Time to Dance a realistic text showing children putting on traditional Métis sashes in preparation for dancing.  Much of the text is repeated, such as the teacher’s prompt “Time to dance.”  The inside front cover offers cultural background information and the inside back cover provides instructional suggestions.

The text is composed of short, simple sentences.  Photographs support the text directly.  Quotation marks and apostrophes are used.

The vocabulary includes color words, such as red, white, green, black, and blue.
