Science Readers: Life Cycles

Life Cycles is an informational text that explains the concept of a life cycle and provides examples of the life cycles of animals, plants, and humans.  A two-page activity invites students to explore how insect and mammal life cycles are similar. 

The book is divided into sections with some subsections.  Sentences vary in length and structure.  Illustrations, labeled photosgraphs, and diagrams support the text.  Dashes are used to expand on an idea, and italics are used for emphasis. Fact boxes add interest. A table of contents, a glossary, and an index support the reader.

Glossary words are bold faced throughout the text.
