Science Readers: Life and the Flow of Energy

Life and the Flow of Energy is an expository text that explains how the sun is the source of all energy on Earth and describes photosynthesis, the energy of waste, and energy exchange in ecosystems.  An activity invites students to explore the best way to make food decompose. 

The book is divided into sections with some subsections.  Sentences vary in length and structure.  Labeled photographs and diagrams support and extend the text.  Fact boxes add interest. Italics are used for emphasis and dashes are used to expand on an idea. A table of contents, glossary and index are provided.

Glossary words are bold faced throughout the text.
