On the Menu

On the Menu is a story about Felix Brown, a man who travels the world in search of menus.  Felix comments on each menu he shares, including menus from The Desert Café, The Igloo Eating House, and the Poodle Paradise Diner.  Most of the text is in menu format.  Felix’s comments are in simple, everyday language.  The book concludes with a four-step guide to creating a menu.

Humorous illustrations match the text directly and add meaning.  A variety of fonts and colours are used to make each menu distinctive.  Speech balloons are used.  Dashes, apostrophes, parentheses, colons, and abbreviations are used.

Some vocabulary may require clarification: available, menu, paradise, stale, and sieve.  The verbs serve, wear, bring, lick, and wrap are used.
