Monkey’s Shoes is a humorous animal fantasy.  Monkey has fun with a pair of shoes he finds and Parrot spreads the news of his antics.  When the shoes’ owner returns, things don’t turn out so well for Monkey.  The story is told in simple repeating language patterns with both dialogue and narrative.

The story has a beginning, middle end text structure.  All the sentences are short and largely predictableQuotation marks, exclamation marks, commas, and ellipses are used.  Bold face is used for emphasis.  Monkey and Parrot are capitalized names.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.

The onomatopoetic words wow-eeeeee, hee-hee-hee, and oops are used.  The contraction don’t is used.  Interest words include jungle, screeching, hopping, stomping, and bruise.
