The Feast BIG BOOK

9781869442705

The Feast is a humorous fantasy about Dinosaur and Dragon.  Both creatures try to entice townsfolk to come to a feast, but the people chase them out of town.  Dinosaur and Dragon are both sad until Dragon gets the idea to invite Dinosaur to a feast.  The story is told in dialogue and narrative.

The story follows the pattern of problem-solution narrative.  The text includes several lists and an example of an invitation.  Most sentences are simple in structure. Illustrations in text support vocabulary, and text in illustrations adds meaning.  Bold face is used for emphasis.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, commas, dashes, and colons are used.

The contraction there’ll is used.  Singular/plural pairs include cake/cakes and icicle/icicles.  The homonyms to/too, sight/site, and night/knight appear.  Interest words include feast, delicious, silvery, rhubarb, fabulous, furious, and problem.
