Nonfiction Readers K: Marvelous Me: My Hands
Marvelous Me: My Hands is a nonfiction picture book that shows the many things that hands can do. The idea that hands are a useful part of one’s life is an important theme that connects to children’s’ lived experiences. Short, predictable sentences that are close to oral language are used.
Photographs add meaning to the text. Images are sequential and follow a logical order as one shows the beginning activity, for example, putting on a shoe, while the next shows the end result, for example, tying the shoelaces.
One syllable words are repeated beneath each image in a large, easy-to-read font. To conclude, the Word to Know, which is hands, is shown and supported by an image.
