Making Money Grow is an expository text about kids who are entrepreneurs. The text gives information on working with others, building a business, saving money, fundraising, and how to develop plans for spending money.  The style is informative and conversational.

The book has a Contents and is divided into sections with headings.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types. Captioned photographs, illustrations, lists, diagrams, graphs, tables, and fact boxes support the text and add meaning.  An index is provided.

New terminology such as employer, entrepreneur, and target market, is are defined in context and in the glossary.
