Long Hairy Legs

Long Hairy Legs is a humorous, realistic story about a cottage clean-up that uncovers a monster.  Is it a massive spider?  No, those long, white and purple legs belong to a well-sprouted potato!  The book ends with a procedural text feature titled: How to Grow a Potato Monster.  The story is told in dialogue and simple narrative.

The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Humorous illustrations match the text directly and add meaning.  Speech balloons appear in art.  Quotation marks are used in dialogue.  Exclamation marks are used for emphasis. 

Some vocabulary may require clarification: teased, awful, carefully, stared, wrinkled.  The contractions it’ll, we’ll, we’re, there’s, don’t, it’s, and let’s are used.
