Going Places

Going Places is an informational text about the migration of whales, birds, and butterflies.  The text explains how each creature travels from snow to warmer climes.  The text is composed of simple language patterns that are close to oral language.

All the sentences are short and predictable.  Vibrant photographs match the text directly.  Labels highlight important parts in the photographs.  A sidebar with a graphic of the globe and two sequenced photographs show each animal’s route.  The book concludes with a graphic organizer and an index.
