Getting It Right

Getting It Right is a recount by a young contestant in a first aid competition.  In the dramatic final moments of the contest, the narrator faces a moral dilemma: Should she answer correctly and win the contest for her team, even though she cheated?  The recount sets the stage for the reader to answer this question.  The style is friendly and conversational.

The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Illustrations support the text but not all events are illustrated.  The book concludes with a two-page spread that tells how to write a recount.
