Sam the Incredible Inventor is a realistic, adventure story about a little girl who loves to invent machines to do her chores until one day she is asked to invent machines to help build a restaurant.

The story unfolds chronologically in third-person narrative following a single plot line.  The format is beginning chapter book with some text in the form of a list. Illustrations support and enhance the text.

Sam the Incredible Inventor uses several sentences that begin with subordinate clauses or transitional words (such as finally and soon). It also uses a wide variety of punctuation (period, comma, quotation marks, question marks, and exclamation points). A lot of dialogue is presented within the text in a variety of ways, including dialogue from multiple characters and unassigned dialogue.
