The story unfolds chronologically in third-person narrative following a single plot line.  The format is beginning chapter book with illustrations that support and enhance the text. 

Ms. Wilde and Oscar uses several sentences that begin with subordinate clauses or transitional words (such as first, second, third, then, and soon). It also uses a wide variety of punctuation (period, comma, quotation marks, question marks, and exclamation points). A lot of dialogue is presented within the text in a variety of ways, including dialogue from multiple characters and unassigned dialogue.
