Eddy's Hair

Eddy’s Hair is a realistic fiction about a boy named Eddy who is insecure about his red hair and always tries to cover it. When an older soccer player who has been on TV comes to Eddy’s classroom, he says he needs a student to help him at his game on the weekend. He picks Eddy because he has red hair like him. All the kids see Eddy on TV and think he is cool.

To begin, the characters and setting are introduced. Illustrations add detail, interest, and humour to the text and are found on each page. Callouts prompt prediction and allow students to make inferences. Some illustrative text is used.

There are a few prepositional phrases, indicating time, at the beginning of a sentence. To conclude, an image of the students in the class, along with a graph organized by hair colour, is shown. In addition, a Word Bank is offered with images to support each word.
