Davy D.'s Dog BIG BOOK

Davy D.’s Dog is a humorous story.  Davy D.’s dog is too big for his teeny, tiny house, but the dog won’t leave the house until Davy builds a big, big house for his big, big dog.  The story is told in simple repeating language patterns with both dialogue and narrative.

The story has a beginning, middle end text structure.  All the sentences are short and largely predictable.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, commas, and ellipses are used.  Bold face is used for emphasis.  Large, colourful display type is used in text and art to enhance meaning.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.

The onomatopoetic words crash and smash are used.  The contractions can’t and wouldn’t are used.  Interest words include lick, flick, crash, smash, and mess.
