Big Teeth, No Teeth

Big Teeth, No Teeth is an informational text about animals’ teeth – or lack of teeth.  The lively text is composed of simple language patters that are close to oral language.  Several questions are posed directly to the reader.

All the sentences are short and predictable.  Dramatic photographs match the text directly.  Labels and arrows highlight important parts in the photographs.  Question marks and one exclamation mark are used.  The book concludes with two tables grouping the animals by whether or not they have teeth and an index.

The high frequency words are it, where, and have.  Interest words include lizard, mouth, and crocodile.
