Beware of the Cat BIG BOOK

Beware of the Cat! is a humorous story.  When Mrs. P moves into Fleet Street, she scratches her hand on the catch of her gate.  She makes a sign to warn people about the catch but runs out of paint before she can write the letters c and h – with hilarious results. Several repeating language patterns tell the story in dialogue and simple narrative.

The story has a beginning, middle end text structure.  Most of the sentences are simple.  Several sentences begin with a dependent clause.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, question marks, ellipses, and commas are used. Bold face is used for emphasis.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.

Mrs. P. is an abbreviation for a longer name.  Interest words include horrible, hairy, tigerish, claws, and jaws.
