Amazing Lizards

Amazing Lizards is an informational explanation.  The text explains that lizards are amazing because they can move, change colour, and escape enemies in novel ways.  Numerous examples of support the central idea.  The style is informative and conversational.

The book has a table of contents and is divided into four sections, an introduction and three sections supporting the thesis that lizards are amazing.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Captioned and labelled photographs support the text and add meaning.  Fact boxes provide additional information.  An index is provided.  The book concludes with a two-page spread that provides the characteristics of an explanation, including a topic, headings, supporting information, and visuals.

Some words, such as reptiles, balance, scales, and flaps may require clarification.  Several words are used in both singular and plural: enemy/enemies, body/bodies, lizard/lizards.
