A No-Good Dog is a realistic story about Sundance, a dog from the pound who can’t get anything right.  Dad says she’s a no-good guard dog, a no-good sheep dog, so she must go.  Danny, the dog’s master, is very upset. When Dad and Danny go for a hike in the woods with Sundance, Danny gets buried in a rock slide, and Sundance saves his life by pinpointing his location.  Dad decides the no-good dog can stay forever.  Narrative and dialogue are used to tell the story.

Some words, such as do-good, thrashed, rockslide, and nagged may require clarification.  The adjectives dead, rough, wagging, and flat are used. The pronouns they, he, she, me, her, and it are used.
