Under the Ground

Under the Ground is an informational text that shows animals that live underground.  The text has the repeating language pattern “Look under the ground. Look at the ________.”

All the sentences are short and predictable.  Vibrant photographs match the text directly.  Each two-page spread also has a field notebook with a labelled illustration of the animal on that spread.  At the close of the book a two-page illustration shows people in an underground city complex.  The final two-page spread has an illustration that shows all the animals in the book and an index.

The high frequency words are look, at, and the.  Interest words include fox, ants, and ground.
