Glooscap Stops the Wind is a retelling of a traditional Wabanaki story.  Glooscap wants to go duck hunting, so travels to the Wind Eagle and stops the wind, but the result is not what he had hoped for, so Glooscap must make a return journey to set things right.  The book concludes with Reflecting on the Story and Turtle Island Circle, features that provide additional information and prompt reflection and extension.

The book has a Contents and is divided into chapters.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence typesIllustrations support the text although not all scenes are illustrated. 

The vocabulary reflects the everyday speech of children.
