The Swamp Eggs BIG BOOK

The Swamp Eggs is a heart-warming story about a swamp hen named Gwen defending her six beautiful eggs.  She shoos away a hawk, a snake, and a cat and then leads six beautiful chicks to safety “as the night turned into day.”  The story is told in simple repeating language patterns with both dialogue and narrative.

The story has a beginning, middle end text structure.  All the sentences are short and largely predictable.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, commas, and ellipses are used.  Bold face is used for emphasis.  An artistic font is used for words such as swoop and swirl.  Illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.
