The Robbers

The Robbers is a humorous, realistic fiction about a man named Paddy who calls over a police officer because he finds a mess in his house and thinks robbers broke in. The police officer examines the scene and realizes that ducks got into his home and created the mess. Dialogue is used between characters.

Illustrations add meaning and interest. Three clues are illustrated with written and visual text and thought bubbles are used.

Ellipses are used to show a continuation on the next page. To conclude, the police officer’s report of the incident is shown. In addition, simple activities that include oral, written, and visual communication are presented in the Teacher’s Guide Notes.
