The Log

The Log is a humorous and realistic fiction story about Matt wanting to go for a swim. He saw a log in his pool and started to poke it. He stopped when he realized it was a crocodile. Matt called Kate from the Croc Farm who got the crocodile out with rope. The story is narrated with illustrative text, speech bubbles, and onomatopoeia.

The Log is a simple narrative story. Critical thinking questions are provided to guide the reader. Illustrations match the text. A visual information guide is provided for teachers to draw students’ attention to the changes in font style like bold and illustrative text as well as the information, layout, and design of speech bubbles. There is an exemplar of a conversation using speech bubbles at the end of the book.
