Snakes Up Close is an informational text about snakes including their body parts, where they live, what they eat, and the different types of snakes. 

The book is divided into chapters and has a table of contents.  Sentences vary in length and structure.  Labelled photographs, illustrations, and charts support and extend the text.  

Potentially new words such as cold-blooded, scales, and venom are defined in context and in the glossary.
