Illustrations extend and enhance the meaning of the text. Speech bubbles, as well as thought bubbles, are used to convey information.

Adjectives such as muddy, webbed, sharp, and yellow are used.  Silent letters appear in night and knew. To conclude, a two-page spread invites readers to learn about the characteristics of a narrative with examples from the story.
