Rabbit and Rooster's Ride

Rabbit and Rooster’s Ride is a humorous animal fantasy.  Rabbit and Rooster get into Kangaroo’s pouch and ask Kangaroo to jump and thump higher and higher – up, up, up – until the two riders pop out and fall in a river onto the back of a waiting alligator.  The story is told in simple, repeating language patterns using both dialogue and narrative.

The story has a beginning, middle end text structure.  All the sentences are short and largely predictable.  Kangaroo, Rabbit, and Rooster are capitalized names.  Quotation marks, exclamation marks, commas, and ellipses are used.  Large, colourful display type is used to convey meaning about sounds and movement.  Humorous illustrations support the text directly and add meaning.

The phrase “Cool bananas!” is used at the beginning and end of the story.  Interest words include pouch, thump, bump, and splash.
