Pangaea

Pangaea is an expository text that invites readers to learn about Pangaea and how the continents, and Earth, are always changing.

Illustrations depict content and ideas in the text. Many illustrations are labeled and include captions. Maps, with simple legends, are used throughout to convey information. Fact boxes are used and there are some black and white images. Cross-section diagrams depict the various layers of Earth.  A table of contents, a glossary, and an index are included.

Words such as Pangaea, continent, geomorphologist, and fossil, may need clarification. Many adjectives are used. To conclude, a two-page spread invites readers to learn about the characteristics of an explanatory text with supporting examples from the text.
