Nonfiction Readers 4: Animal Architects

Animal Architects is an expository text about animals that use their own bodies and materials from nature to build structures such as shells, nests, webs, and dams.  The style is conversational and informative.

A variety of sentence types is used.  Information is presented by the main text, captioned photographs, diagrams, and text boxes that highlight definitions and interesting facts.  A Contents, glossary, index, bibliography, and websites for further research are provided. 

New terminology such as adaptations, camouflage, and larders is defined in context.
