Navigating at Sea

How did sailors long ago know how to get from here to there? They needed smarts, bravery, and tools of navigation! Many of the tools used then are still used in some form today. Modern technology allows navigation to be even more precise. With the right tools, there doesn't seem to be anywhere people cannot go!

Created in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, this book builds students' literacy skills while fostering curiosity, creativity, and innovation. It features a hands-on STEAM challenge that guides students through each step of the engineering design process and is ideal for makerspace activities.
